Concurrent enrollment
What is Concurrent Enrollment?
Through a partnership with colleges, Anoka-Hennepin high schools offer college courses. Courses are taught during the regular school day by high school instructors who are selected and supported by college and university faculty. The courses are identical to college courses. Note: Some institutions refer to concurrent enrollment as dual enrollment.
A variety of Anoka Technical College courses are taught at STEP. The classes are FREE to eligible students and can save students hundreds of dollars!

Articulated college credit
WHAT is Articulated College Credit?
Students have the opportunity to earn Technical or Community college credits (Articulated College Credit) for courses completed in High School.
Articulated College Credit (ACC) means:
- You earn Technical or Community college credits (Articulated College Credit) in 10, 11, 12 grades
- You explore career opportunities through high school courses offered at STEP
- You complete your college program sooner, save time and money
- You can choose a specific career program or a major that may lead to transfer options to a university

How do I get Articulated College Credit (ACC)?
- Attend a CTE class at STEP
- Your STEP teacher will explain specific requirements in order for you to earn the college credit. Often times it is assessment results, a minimum grade in the course (usually an A or B), attendance requirements, etc.
- Create an account on the www.ctecreditmn.com website
- At the completion of your class, your STEP teacher will "Approve" your credit
What do I do with the Articulated College Credit?
- Download your Articulated College Credit record at any time after you have completed your high school ACC course.
- Bring the ACC record to one of the colleges listed and enroll in a career program or major.
- Check with the college records office as they may have a procedure to follow.
Where can I use the credit?
- Bring your printed ACC record when registering at a college listed on your certificate to receive the credit(s) earned. Other colleges not on the list MAY honor the credits.
- You must always check with the college or university of your choice for specific criteria in a program or major — not all credits will move into all programs or majors.
Letter of recommendation for college credit
WHO can earn a Recommendation Letter for College Credit?
Many of the career classes at STEP use a NOCTI assessment as their final assessment for the course. Any student who takes a NOCTI assessment has the opportunity to earn a Recommendation Letter for College Credit.
NOCTI has collaborated with the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) to evaluate all of its assessments. Experienced industry experts and professors evaluated the rigor of the NOCTI assessments to translate the content into college credit equivalencies.
WHICH classes at STEP use a NOCTI assessment?
The following is a list of all the courses offered at STEP that administered a NOCTI assessment last year:
- Advanced Automotive III
- Law Enforcement II--Police Procedures
HOW does it work?
- Students must meet a 70% benchmark on an approved NOCTI multiple-choice assessment to be eligible for the College Credit Recommendation Report.
- The College Credit Recommendation Report is automatically generated as part of the NOCTI scoring package for all eligible students.
- The report can be used as part of a student’s portfolio, and more importantly, can be presented at any of the 1500+ participating colleges and universities for college credit consideration.
- Need an official transcript? NOCTI has collaborated with Excelsior College to offer students an option for an “official” transcript.
